A Shade of Paradise is the companion recording to the highly successful album by Bruce and Howard Kleinfeld, A Beach of Dreams. Just as with A Beach of Dreams, the goal was to produce a recording that combined World Music percussion styles with beautiful melodies in a richly textured musical landscape.
Returning for this recording with Bruce and Howard are Bruce Abbott on saxes, Curt Ramm on trumpet and flugelhorn and special guest Ron Reinhardt, a frequent musician with saxophone great Richard Elliot, on piano.
A Shade of Paradise includes three new compositions by Bruce and Howard combined with beautifully realized arrangements of such hits as Sting's haunting "Fragile", Burt Bacharach's "The Look of Love", James Taylor's "Mexico" and the '60s classic "Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying".
Reviews:
